Blogpost 3: Music: And How It Creates The Present

After writing two blogs on effects of Music when it comes to getting good grades and the effect of behavior, I would think that after this I would lose inspiration on writing other perspectives connected to my very topic. But after getting into this seriously I realized there is a lot to write about about Music and its connection and relevance to many aspects of our lives. This were after much reading and browsing online that I discovered a topic on Music and its power to direct the thinking of a generation that is subjected to it.

According to the great Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr a notable French critic, journalist, and novelist the more things change, the more they remain the same. In other words stagnant. This seems to be apparently   true for most things especially music. The fact is despite the increasing diversity in what music sounds like these days, it would seem that you can still pretty much classify styles according to genres like rock, blues, jazz and the other modern day genres like hip-hop, grunge and heavy metal

More often than not, we see this in the older generations who would most likely label our music as “noise” maybe even trash for some. But the fact here is that music is a relative phenomena that affects not only the direction of an individuals thinking or behavior but more so and urgently the direction of a generation. We could only speculate on why maybe the generations that were tasked to lead our country's direction for the last 30 years are not exactly as great as they are supposed in many aspects. Maybe and it was the music that they were listening then when they were our age now that influenced them subconsciously the people they are today. Mostly short minded and visionless if you were to ask me.

In closing, Music may have changed the world direction in many ways. Some for good and some for bad. But looking deeper at this topic, I realized while writing this blog, the direct connection there may be with music, particularly 60's and 70's, which music which was in reality the "sounds" of majority of our current higher leaders.Thats why I cannot help but connect the behavior of a generation to what were are experiencing now as a nation being led by them. as far as the 60's and 70's are concerned if we look at todays current generation of leaders, I feeling a substandard level of leadership that should be can be connected to the hippy laid back peace love vibe of the music they listened to then. We must therefore be wary not to judge this current generation of music and be very careful what we listen to, as this may most likely be part of what we become in the future.
